Halloween activity for beading enthusiasts

This funny idea, a spider's web made of beads, came from my son Loïc, 7, who likes to accompany me when I "bead"...
Loïc likes to make things with the brass wire I use for jewelry, and occasionally threads pearls into it.
So much so that while I'm making feminine jewelry, strange creatures come to life beside me... like this surprising scorpion.

Our new family creation was born from a drawing of a spider's web, which Loïc wanted to transform into a beaded craft.
activité perles pour Halloween Can be used :
-as a decoration for Halloween: pin it on a curtain, for example,
- or as a brooch and a smaller version: although, for Halloween, you can have all the extravagance you want!

Explanations for this manual activity, which can be carried out by children or simply by beading enthusiasts... Caution: brass wire is dangerous for small children, so watch your eyes!
- Cut 3 brass wires about 10 cm long (in fact, take the diameter you want for your spider's web + 1 cm).
- Tie the wires at their centers as shown in the diagram.

- String beads onto a branch to within 0.8 cm of the edge: make a loop to secure the beads, passing the end of the brass wire through the last bead you threaded. This is a delicate operation for children, so you'll need to help them...

- Do the same for each branch.

- Take a nylon thread (approx. 1 m) and thread it through a bead located 3 beads from the center on one of the branches. Center the thread. Thread 4 beads, then pass through a bead on the next branch, also 3 beads from the center.
Do the same with the other end of the thread on the other side.
Continue until you reach the end and cross the threads.

- Bring them up to half-way up the branch and, on each end, thread about 10 to 12 beads between each branch.
When the strands meet, go back up to the top of the branch and continue threading the beads through the loops made at the end of the branch.
When the strands meet, make a double knot.

activité perles pour Halloween The little spider...

I made the essential spider. Simple to make, it's above all meticulous, given the size of the beast.
You'll need nylon thread (which will enable this ball and 3D shape), black seed beads and 2 bright yellow beads for the eyes.
Start by threading 2 beads, centring the thread. Then thread 1 yellow bead, 1 black bead, 1 yellow bead: pass the other end of the thread through these beads.
Thisis the whole principle of beaded animal weaving, a series of strands of beads (increasing or decreasing according to the shape to be given) through which you pass a second time with the other end of the thread. The use of nylon rather than brass wire allows for this relief-like placement: one strand is placed on top, another underneath, etc.
See explanations for weaving animals with seed beads

Row 3 comprises 4 beads, the next 4 rows 6 beads for the body, then diminished by a round shape.
Pass the threads through the last row to close the "ball".
Pass a thread on each side to form 3 legs per side (one long rocaille (otherwise two normal), then one rocaille for the end of the leg.
The spider is then attached to the web with nylon thread threaded through the tips of the legs.

If, like me, you have more than one child, I wish you the best of luck in making the spider family! But the result is really cute, isn't it?
