Painting ceramic dinosaurs

Here's how, with the kids, we personalized two superb dinosaur piggy banks in white ceramic (also called "cookie"): one Zebra-style (who knows if it ever existed? ), the other more classic, with a nice Pokemon look... A fun and easy activity, requiring only classic acrylic paint and/or felt-tip pens, and in the end decorative objects that the kids are proud to keep.

The gentle dinosaur

The body and head are painted in a single coat (Jo sonja, an inferior quality paint will require 2 coats), with the exception of the eyes and "quills". The "quills" are painted in blaze orange and the eyes in white. Then, around the eyes, the mouth and nostrils are drawn with a fine, multi-support black felt-tip pen. With a simple brown felt-tip pen, the small raised circles are drawn right into the paint, as are around the claws.

The Zebra dinosaur

First, paint the entire raw ceramic surface white. Then, using a multi-support black felt-tip pen, begin the zebra stripes, following the natural lines of the beast... Draw larger and larger circles around the eyes, until you reach the muzzle.
The "quills" are striped vertically, like a zebra's mane. The stripes widen on the sides of the animal. The rapid drying of the felt-tip pen on the layer of paint prevents smudging.
