Making girly barrettes
Make-your-own hair clips for girls, with brightly-colored beads and rhinestones to make the essential click-clack clips more playful.
For girls, it's very early on in life that hair needs to be tied back to free the face until the hair grows out, so we might as well make them little jewels with click-clack clips they'll love to wear.
Clic-clac rails
Click clips are ideal for holding back fine hair. For little girls, simply put the clip in place and "click" it in place, placing your fingers underneath so as not to rest on the child's head.
The hair clips used in these little jewels are 3 cm long and made of sturdy silver-plated metal.
To decorate them with pearl tassels as on our models, the barrettes must have a hole at the end: simply pass a ring through it to hold the pearl tassel(s).
The wider part can be fitted with rhinestones to match the tassels: either large rhinestones or several small ones.
Warning: pearls should only be used on girls over 3 years of age, who are not at risk of putting these decorations in their mouths - a double danger with crystal, which contains lead.

For this first click-clac style hair clip, we've chosen a large 7 mm diameter Amethyst rhinestone (reference SS34 in Swarovski crystal).
This hot-fix rhinestone is heat-glued with an electric rhinestone applicator or glued with specific crystal jewelry glue. For the pearl charm, a silver-plated nail is threaded with a silver-plated cup, followed by a large Violet magic pearl (10 mm), a large light-green seed bead and a small magic pearl matching the first.
The nail is then bent perpendicularly, cut if necessary to protrude only 8-9 mm, then shaped into a round clip using round-tipped pliers.

Even more girly, a little barrette with a laughing cat charm and a few crystal pearls...
The Cat charm is held in place by a clip on which are strung faceted crystal beads, including a Swarovski Rose top. On the clip are 3 small rhinestones (3mm diameter, reference ss10) in the same Swarovski pink.
