DIY sets for LEGO Indiana Jones

Once the Lego Indiana Jones model has been built and painted, it's time to create small sets inspired by cult scenes from the various episodes.

Model scenery on the Mountain side

This part of the model features two different scenes: - the motorcycle and sidecar chase from the episode "The Last Crusade", which ends on a shot of directional panels: this is a small set that will be created by DIY - linking the cliff and the rocks, a suspension bridge as in episode 2.

Wooden panel decor
Making wooden road signs

An easy DIY project, using scraps of wood and a little wood glue, ideal for younger DIY enthusiasts. But it's also a little decoration, reminiscent of the scene and the choice of direction (towards Berlin?).

Making the matchstick suspension bridge

The suspension bridge is made from DIY matches and fine brass wire.
Cut 2 lengths of brass wire, each about 80 cm long.

Leave a few millimetres overhanging (for the bridge attachment) before winding each thread onto the ends of a first match. leave a few millimetres and wind a new match. Continue in this way until you obtain the right length of pontoon.
A match or two can be broken for greater realism!
The 4 wire ends are wound onto 4 pieces of dead wood, which are pressed into the model.

Model scenery on the Amazon Forest side

The episode of the Crystal Skull is evoked on this part of the model: scenes from the film can be replayed here (around the tent, the quicksand, on the river...) and the additional backdrops are the temple entrance, totem-style, and a trap-graveyard.... brr....

Making the temple/cave entrance
The entrance is indicated by a totem-like arch made of Fimo clay.
wooden spikes (toothpicks) are alternately threaded with marbled Fimo clay balls and pieces of clay cut as if they were stones (leave 1 cm of the spikes protruding).
The 2 spikes are topped by balls shaped like scary gargoyles. The third spike is pricked into each of them to form a rectangular arch.
to bake, allow around 20 minutes in a 130° oven. Fimo can be shaped by children aged 8 and over. Wash hands thoroughly after modelling.
Once cooled, the arch can be planted in front of the cave.

A skeleton as a trap
A skeleton trap
A LEGO skeleton is placed in a hole spooned out of the foam, then painted.
matches are pushed in to form a grid.
The grid itself is hidden under foliage...
At another location, a hidden hole, this time without a skeleton, threatens the unwary adventurer...
