Here are several ideas for making your own jewelry boxes to give to your mother for Mother's Day, a birthday... Each box has its own style, its own flower, to be chosen according to the personality of the mother to be celebrated.
Easy creations, requiring just a little care but no particular technique, to be made by teenagers or children with a little help from grown-ups...
Lavender decoration for a jewelry box with compartments
The idea: create a lavender décor with round crystal rhinestones that reflect the light beautifully. A gift evoking Provence for a mother who loves flowers and sunshine...
Supplies:

- a 4-compartment wood box with interior mirror (13 x 9 cm): this is the box supplied for the Bijoux et Perles boutique kit box option, so you can decorate it yourself and give a double gift!
- acrylic paint in colors: khaki green, violet, a little white and yellow,
- a flat brush, a very fine brush,
- Swarovski SS16 crystal rhinestones (4mm diameter) 27
- in Vitrail Light
- 4 in Tanzanite
- 2 in Capri blue
- rhinestone glue.
Painting stage
The lavender sprigs will be painted in their natural color (a soft khaki green): this same shade is used to paint the lid recess, but tending towards aniseed, lightened with white and yellow.
To reinforce the lavender color of this jewelry box, the same violet will be used.
The edges of the lid are painted with the same violet color, lightened with white to obtain a soft parma.
The bottom sides of the box and its outer base are painted purple.
The inside of the box (around the mirror and on top of the compartments) is painted pink.

As the acrylic paint dries quickly, continue your work...
The lavender strands (3 intersecting strands) are painted with a very fine brush, the lavender leaves being a little wider than the stem itself.
Do not hesitate to try out a sheet of paper to practice the right movement, and rest your wrist on the table for a clean movement.

The rhinestones are glued to the ends of the 3 strands: you can either apply a dot of glue to each directly on the wood, or a short line. Long fingernails are all you need to grasp the rhinestones and place them precisely where you want them. Press gently with the tip of a brush to adhere. Any excess glue will become transparent as it dries.
Lavender flowers are made with mostly "Vitrail light" rhinestones. For each strand, place either 2 Capri blue rhinestones or 2 Tanzanite rhinestones on either side, staggered to evoke more or less open lavender flowers.

Country-style dandelion box
A simple, oval-shaped box in raw wood is painted in two tones, decorated with a simple, single-color design, then embellished with crystal rhinestones (Crystal ab SS16 rhinestones). Simple effects for an elegant, poetic gift box for a tender-hearted mother.
The color used is Jo Sonja's soft khaki green (a very covering paint for a beautiful effect), lightened for the lid with a little white.

The dandelion flower is painted with a very fine brush: first the stem, then each achene (i.e. the seed and its "parachute"), one after the other and overlapping. A few blown-away achenes are drawn around them to give the illusion of movement.

The top of the can is painted in Sienna color. Then, after drying, crackle gel is applied to the lid alone (see some tips on applying crackle paint). After a light drying, the lid is painted gray, as are the edges and back of the box.
Once the paints are dry, white wax can be applied with a cloth to accentuate the aged effect.
The rhinestones can then be glued on, arranged in flowers: SS16 Crystal Copper round rhinestones and Crystal drop rhinestones.
