Making the embroidered felt bell

Silver thread star embroidery
Cut out twice the bell template (below) from thick red felt. First embroider the stars in silver embroidery thread, then the holly leaves (embroidered "freehand" in stem stitch) in fir green thread, and the red holly balls in a red thread lighter than the color of the felt, in throw stitch.
A zig-zag stitch in light green thread emphasizes the bell's flared shape.

Embroidery assembly
The two sides of the bell are now assembled: the silver thread is embroidered (in slipper stitch, for example) all around the bell, making a small bridge at the bell clasp (to let a ribbon pass through) and leaving the bottom of the bell free.
A hodgepodge of red muslin ribbons and embroidery threads (different greens and reds), braided and knotted, with a few white metal bells hanging from them, is attached by a ribbon that comes out the top of the bell, allowing it to hang.

Felt Christmas star

Felt embroidered Christmas star
Made in autumn tones, this Christmas star is a decoration that can be in place well in advance of the Advent calendar...
Cut the large star (see template below) from thick olive green felt, then the medium star from thin brown felt, and finally the small inner star from thin orange felt. Assemble the two larger stars, staggering them, using a scallop stitch (with 3 strands) which will be reinforced by a thread (of the same color with 6 strands) running along the brown star.
Embroidery on felt
Attach the little orange star, using orange-yellow embroidery thread (2 strands), and place a round of felt inside to create a relief effect. Embroider in small stitches.

Fasten a long suspension using a loop of thread from the brown star.

A felt mitt

Applied felt mitten
Cut the mitten template from thick yellow felt and thin orange felt.
Cut small motifs from assorted fine felt scraps.

Like an appliqué, assemble these motifs by drawing small crosses in assorted yarns of different colors, for a "country" effect.

The two sides of the mitt are then assembled in festoon stitch and a brown leather fastener is attached to the inside of the mitt.
