Patchwork Christmas bauble

A decorative bauble made from patchwork fabrics: planted in a pot or as a classic hanging decoration, these colorful Provencal fabrics add a sunny touch to Christmas decorations.

Supplies
- an 8 cm diameter polystyrene ball,
- scraps of fabric or ribbon.

Use a pencil to draw geometric areas on the Styrofoam ball: a central square, strips around it...

Next, cut pieces of fabric (in this case, fine Provençal fabrics) a few millimetres larger on each side than the area to be covered. Place the piece of fabric over the area to be covered and press the edges of the fabric in along the lines of the area, using a very rounded blade (a round nail file can be useful). Be careful not to tear the fabric as you press it in.

Continue in this way, alternating fabrics to create pretty patterns.

A spike can be stuck into the ball, with a ribbon tied against it, and this assembly placed in the pot of a green plant, for example.

Or, the ball can be suspended by a fastener made from a metal wire inserted deep into the ball (which is quite light anyway).
