How to create a pearl and rhinestone hair clip

A tutorial on how to make your own crystal pearl and rhinestone hair clips, ideal for a wedding or ceremony. When making your own hair clips, keep in mind that the pearl charm must remain light so that the hair clip stays in place...
Rhinestone and pearl wedding hair clips
Crystal pearls and rhinestones allow this hair clip to sparkle in a bride's hair, or for any elegant ceremony. The clic-clac hair clip (which has the advantage of holding well in the hair) must have a hole at the end for a ring to hold the pearl tassels.
The hair clip is soberly decorated with a single medium-sized rhinestone, but smaller rhinestones can be glued all around the clip to hide its metallic appearance. The rhinestone is 16mm in diameter (Swarovski reference SS16) in Crystal ab color (with an iridescent effect that reflects the colors), and Crystal ab pearls and spinners are also held in the 4 charms attached to the hair clip ring.

Supplies
- 2 x 9 cm lengths of silver-plated cable wire (the thickness of the wire will vary)
- 2 x 25mm silver-plated metal tubes
- 5 beads to crush (4 small and one larger, depending on the thickness of the wire)
- one silver pearl to cover
- one SS16 Crystal ab rhinestone
- 5 Crystal ab faceted flat rondelles
- 4 Swarovski crystal 4mm spinners, 2 in Crystal ab and 2 in Crystal Comet Light (semi-silver)
- 10 Crystal ab 3mm facets
- 14 silver Delicas
- a 6mm silver ring
- and a clic-clac hair clip of course!

Shop for wires, cords, leathers and jewelry primers at low prices.

Ready-to-wear crystal hair clip
Making a pearl hair clip: step 1
Pass the 2 lengths of wired wire through the ring, then thread a squeeze bead onto these 4 wires (its diameter must be large enough for 4 wires to pass through). Using flat-nose pliers, firmly flatten the squeeze bead.
Stringing the beads onto the charm - step 2
On the crushed pearl, position the pearl cover and close it gently with the pliers so that it takes on the regular round shape of a pearl. On the 4 wires, thread a flattened faceted rondelle.
Making the 1st pearl charm
On one wire, thread a metal tube, then a flattened faceted washer, then a small pearl to be crushed. Crush the pearl and cut the wire flush. Do the same on another wire (the naturally opposite one).

On the 3rd thread, thread 2 times: a Delica, a 3mm facet. Then a Delica and a Crystal Comet spinner. Then 4 times: a Delica, a 3mm facet and finally a Delica and a Crystal ab top. Thread a bead to be crushed, flattened and cut flush. On the 4th thread, thread a Delica, a 3mm facet, a Delica, a flattened rondelle, a Delica, a 3mm facet, a Crystal Comet toupie, a 3mm facet. Then a Delica, a flattened rondelle, a Delica, a 3mm facet, a Delica, a Crystal ab router, a crush bead. Crush the latter and cut flush. Carefully open the ring (always from the side) with the pliers, pass it through the hole in the bar and close it.

Swarovski crystal cabochon clip set with pearls

Another type of pretty crystal barrette is obtained by suspending an earring or the motif of a small ring from the clic-clac barrette, as seen here with the Djerba parma ring (available in kit): very elegant with its cabochon set with Swarovski crystal pearls.
So you can match your jewels in a complete set, right down to the hair clip!
