Braided bracelet with plan knot tutorial

Braided leather and cotton cord bracelets are summer musts, because they're easy to make yourself and fun to wear all summer long and beyond. depending on whether the cord used is round leather, suede-like leather or cotton, with or without pearls, the look of the bracelet can be varied. Here's a tutorial on how to make a bracelet with a large flat knot in the middle and the particularity of being made up of four cords.

Leather and cotton double knot bracelet
You'll need 2 lengths of cord, each about 45 cm long and at least 1.5 mm in diameter (for a thin bracelet), ideally 2 to 3 mm so that the central knot is as visible as possible.
In the photo opposite, the bracelet is made of 2 different materials: a metallic bronze leather cord and a white cotton cord with a diameter of 2mm. Available as a kit with all necessary supplies.

The sides are braided (2 cords are joined together to make a 3-strand braid), whereas for the other models, the cords are left flat.

Step 1 tutorial: laying the cords

Central knot bracelet tutorial: step 1
Fold the 2 cords in the middle. Place one folded cord (brown leather) in front of you (loop on the left). Place the other cord (pink cotton) on top and roll it up as shown in the photo (its loop goes over the ends of the cord).

Step 2: winding

The loop of the brown cord passes over the loop of the pink cord and then under the ends of the pink cord.

Step 3: tie

Planar node step tutorial
The loop of the brown cord continues by passing through the loop made by the pink double cord, but slipping under its own ends and coming out over the pink double cord. The loops are therefore "at the bottom", the cord ends "at the top" (otherwise, there's a mistake!).

Step 4: Tighten and balance

Double knot tutorial
Tighten gently and evenly, trying to balance the cord lengths. Flatten the double knot well.

Step 5: Install the cord clamp

Attach the bracelet's cord clip
Cut the 2 sides of the bracelet to the right length (a standard bracelet is 17 cm long, clasp included). At each end, place the 4 cords in 10 mm cord pliers (space them evenly) and close the pliers with flat pliers (first one side, then the other, then pinch tightly in the center).
To help you, the 4 cords can be stored together to be pushed into the pliers. Insert a ring into each pliers and the clasp (simple lobster clasp or more elegant "T" clasp for example), your bracelet is ready!
