Creating twisted beaded jewelry
Twists to make a necklace or ring are appealing for their artistic anarchy... yet the technique used to
make such beaded jewelry follows an organized pattern that must be repeated until the desired length is achieved.
The necklace model presented here can be made with
seed beads and glass beads, including a few Swarovski pearls, and larger beads to set the tone of the necklace.
The necklace below was made using
Magali's Fimo clay
beads, shown on her gallery.

To start the necklace, twist 2 brass wires, each 1 m long, through the middle. Then repeat the same pattern on both sides, twisting the two wires together after each addition of pearls. Always take the longer of the two wires.

- String a large blue bead: 1 thread passes through, the other joins it on the side and both are twisted together.
- Make a round loop with 7 purple seed beads and twist with the other thread.
- Form a triangle by stringing 3 tubes on one thread, then twist with the other thread
.
- String a round violet/blue sequined bead on one thread and twist at the exit of both threads.
- String 5 golden seed beads on each thread and join to make a circle, then twist.
- String 3 large beads in a triangle, and twist.
- String a medium blue bead, and twist at its exit.

Finish
: Fold your necklace in a zig-zag pattern, but in 3 dimensions (not flat).
to finish, loosely wrap two lengths of nylon thread around your necklace to accentuate the deceptively messy look.
