A Liberty bias necklace for girls

A necklace that's fun for girls to wear, fun to make, a gift that even older girls will love... The Liberty bias is ideal for making this type of fabric necklace, as it's a fine 100% cotton batiste with a tight weave that gives it that silky feel (in its best-known Tanna Lawn quality).  And for a little girl's fragile neck, it's really appreciated. Also for the comfort of the wearer, the pendant associated with this necklace should be rather light. Finally, so that the little girl can easily put on and take off her necklace at will (an activity that appeals a lot), the choice was made for a necklace long enough to be passed through the head and so the ribbon fasteners are placed in front and participate fully in the look of the pendant!

Making the necklace: mounting the pendant

Liberty bias necklace pendant
For each end of the bias: fold it twice on itself for 3-4mm and push it into a ribbon fastener (the edges must be hidden by the fastener of the same width): tighten with flat-nose pliers. In each ribbon fastener, thread a chain of rings: 4mm then 6mm then 4mm. These last 4mm rings both pass through an oval ring, thus joining the 2 ends of the necklace. Slip a 4mm ring onto the oval ring and another ring through the resin pendant.
On each side of the necklace, place a 6mm ring to tighten the bias and add a touch of originality; On each of these rings and on the ring holding the butterfly pendant, thread pearl charms.

Pearl charms

To make a charm from a pearl: thread the pearl onto the flat-headed nail, bend the nail flush with the pearl at right-angles and cut about 8mm from the pearl. Using round-tipped pliers, bend the protruding part of the pearl towards you to form a nice, even, closed ring.
To place the charm in a ring, always open the ring from the side using flat-nose pliers.
Once you've made these charms, attach 2 small-bead charms to each side of the necklace (in the 6mm ring) and the large-bead charm to the ring that suspends the butterfly pendant.
