Stencilling a kitchen cabinet makeover

Cupboard doors
The cupboard doors of a kitchen (in white lacquered wood from the 50's) are decorated with motifs using the stencil painting technique. I designed the motifs inspired by Indian paisleys: stylized flowers and birds.

Hardware

I used tracing paper and white Bristol paper for the drawing and stencilling. For the painting, a medium-sized stencil brush and acrylic paint in tubes (red, yellow, blue) mixed on a palette to obtain warm shades.

Pattern cutting

Cutting patterns with a cutter
I cut out the motifs with a cutter.

Pattern positioning

Symmetry and alternation
I re-used the same motifs in symmetrical and alternating patterns to create an aesthetic rhythm.

Detail view

Details
The patterns are made up of simple surfaces separated by "bridges" of around 1 cm.
Traditional Indian motifs
The designs I used as models are traditional Indian motifs, because I love Bollywood style!

Transformation into a stencil

Flower transposition
The Indian flower design was transposed for the stencil technique.

and also... big door makeover

Large door
Re-use the stencils for a large door to match the closet.
