Here's how to use driftwood to dress up an ordinary but high-stemmed floor lamp... and turn it into a contemporary decorative object evocative of the journeys these driftwoods have taken...
Step Lamp assembly
Unpack the parts and assemble the 4 bars of the floor lamp... Personally, I removed one bar because I thought the floor lamp was too high. Then remove the bushing so that you can slide the bars into the wood.
Wood selection stage
Select woods of different sizes to alternate.
Get a drill and a 16" flat wood bit.
Wood assembly stage
The woods are selected one by one as the lamp base is assembled, to ensure that the metal stem is visible as little as possible.
Then the woods are drilled. They are then stacked, interspersed with small pieces of wood.
Once the timbers are all stacked,
Refit the socket.
Place the shade of your choice, then the collar to secure the shade
