  • It's black or grey in color, but can be covered with another colored paint without detracting from its magnetic effect
  • A
  • minimum of 2 coats of paint are needed for a good magnetic attachment: you can use magnets to attach a piece of paper, but not a postcard
  • It'
  • s also possible to cover magnetic paint with black chalk paint. In this way, the board has a dual use: magnetic and chalk.
  • Eco-friendly versions of magnetic paint are available (without releasing VOCs, which is important if we are not to further pollute the air inside our homes!

Creating the picture

If you wish to hang your painting, it's best to attach a clip to the back before you start decorating (you could damage the relief by attaching a clip once the painting is finished). Measure and draw a rectangle inside the support to delimit the "magnetic" part.
Paint this rectangle in 2 coats with the magnetic paint. With the relief paste, and using a simple flat brush, draw clouds in relief in the upper part of the picture, and a relief in the lower part, accentuated on the sides.

The upper third of the picture is painted sky blue (except for the clouds, whose relief is painted white). The remaining two-thirds are painted green, darkening towards the bottom of the painting. Accentuate the relief of the grass by playing with several greens applied with a stencil brush.

Adding the micro-mosaic
Small micro-mosaic squares are glued (in groups of 5 or 6) all around the magnetic paint, masking its edges.
Mini squares of 2 different light blues are glued alternately to the "blue" part of the board.
For the green part, mini squares in green and yellow delimit the magnetic space.

Small metal "flower" decorations are glued to the edges of the board, while others are glued to round magnets to act as magnetic fasteners.

You can also make your own wooden magnets and paint them. At Atelier bois, there are many crunchy raw wood shapes to paint that should inspire you...
