Supplies

Electric light fitting supplies
- Driftwood of various sizes - A wooden square - A plastic clip (to position the socket) - 2 closed round hooks - Adhesive tape for plywood Tools : - A drill and 2 wood bits ( 6mm and 10mn ) - Screws and screwdriver

Implementation: Stage 1

Choice of driftwood
-Wood should be selected in pairs of identical size (for the sake of balance). The number of pieces will depend on the width of your sconce. -Choosea piece wider or more original than the others to fix in the middle, it will personalize your sconce. To fix the driftwood on the square, it's important to proceed as follows: -Drill a hole in the place where you wish to place the driftwood with the 6 mm drill bit, then with the 10 mm drill bit, drill in the same place but just 1 or 2 mm deep. It's important that the screw head is slightly recessed into the square, as the adhesive tape we'll place later won't adhere to the screw heads if they protrude from the surface of the square.

Step 2

Choosing driftwood Step 2
Proceed in the same way for the other timbers, alternating long and short ones. To prevent the square from showing through, fasten all the timbers tightly together. Tip: I use larger timbers at the ends, as these are where the hooks will be screwed.

Step 3

Fixing the sconce Step 3
Once all the wood has been fastened, I turn my sconce upside down and place the plywood adhesive strip on the square to hide the unsightly screw heads. It sticks with the heat of the iron, so protect the adhesive strip with a cloth

Step 4

Screw on the sconce hooks
Screw the hooks on each side to the wood at the end. Then screw on the clip that will hold the socket. Tip: I use pliers to spread the 2 legs of the clip apart, as the plastic is rigid. This will allow the socket to enter the clip more easily.

Step 5

Final touch for sconce
For the finishing touch, I nail 2 pretty decorative sticks onto the sconce, which I place slightly askew. Then, to hide the side of the bracket, I also nail in 2 smaller pieces of wood.
