Paint on glass
Glass painting, or
stained glass painting, seduces with its bright colors and playful transparency effects.
but when you start
painting on glass, the first disappointment is the mark left by the brush...
Tricks
to know :
- Use brushes with very soft bristles,
- or small sponges,
- some colors smooth better than others (depending on the pigments used).
To fix the paint, we recommend baking in a traditional oven.
To paint the glasses on your dinner service, a "special food contact" paint is required. What's more, these paints are now dishwasher-safe... but this needs to be tested several times to be sure that the colors won't fade or the paint will deteriorate.
A
try! The "frosted" effect paint for a sophisticated effect...
To paint a pattern on glass, draw or print it and slide it inside the glass jar to be decorated. Here, we're talking about a simple geometric design: triangles. Here's
a model to get you started in glass painting, and which can be done by children.

The glass jar used is octagonal in shape: so each side can easily be painted, alternating colors.
The hat is cut from a pretty cloth, ideally with serrated scissors, and the outline drawn with a bowl (much wider than the lid): so this step can also be done by children.

Afinishing touch that changes everything ! Use circles (gold or silver or "relief paint") to enhance your design.
Did you notice the red bell pepper? It's a paper napkin motif, cut out and glued with varnish-glue. See the paper napkin gluing technique.

On this pot, each triangle is framed with gold circles.
the background is painted red. The triangles are yellow and orange (and you can't see them in the photo, but in reality it's very colorful!).
The cerne is commonly sold in small tubes. It is therefore necessary to apply light, constant pressure to obtain an even line of cerne. Place your elbows on the table and, with a little practice, you'll be able to shake less...

And for less definitive painted motifs, glass painting isn't just for kids! Adults can also use it for
interior decoration.
