Bedside lamp for a girl's bedroom
This bedside lamp with lampshade was created to match the decoration of baby girl's bedroom.
It actually involved revamping a salvaged lampshade with ribbons and using the candle paint technique for the solid wood lamp base.
the advantage of candle paint is that it produces a ceruse effect without the use of wax, which emits high levels of VOCs, particularly unsuitable for a child's bedroom. The paint used is natural, eco-friendly paint (as for the bedroom, in Cyclamen, Parma and Ecru shades by Natura)
Lampshade makeover
The height of the lampshade is separated into 4 wide bands (by a discreet pencil line).
The natural paint proved easy to apply to the lampshade fabric, in a double coat to mask the previous motif.
The dominant parma is painted on 2 bands, the bright color in the center, the ecru being reserved for the top of the lampshade.
To decorate with matching satin ribbons, holes are made with a mini-drill where the color bands change (this also has the advantage of masking paint imperfections). Note that the middle ribbon does not have the same spacing as the other two. A simple toothpick can be used to thread the ribbons through the holes.
Lamp base
Once these paints are dry, certain areas of the wood are rubbed with a white candle (unscented, as natural as possible).
Then the lower part of the lamp base is painted in parma and the upper part in ecru. Once these paints are dry, the wood is rubbed with very fine sandpaper, until the desired ceruse effect is obtained, very accentuated on the base, lighter on the upper part.

Beads and ribbons
The lamp base is then decorated with a double ribbon of purple and parma satin, the bow of which holds felt and wood beads in assorted colors.
These same ribbons and beads are also used to decorate the top of baby's canopy.
