A canvas for a black and white Christmas
"In the thickest forest, lit only by the stars that shine in the night, Santa's sleigh glides silently over the snow..."
Make a Christmas canvas easily using a white frame, a stencil with a simple-to-make template, a little black and silver paint, and a few rhinestones that will sparkle and add a touch of magic to this highly graphic composition.
Hardware
- a white cotton frame 60 x 30 cm,
- a dozen Crystal ab rhinestones (light-reflecting)
- black and silver acrylic paint
- a sheet of rigid, transparent Rolloid-type plastic (or, failing that, a sheet of cardboard)
- brushes: a fine brush, a brush-brush and a stencil brush.

The black forest
Using a pencil, roughly draw the shapes of the tree tops on the canvas.
Then paint the center of the canvas and the tree tops in black: use a fine brush to mark the ends of the branches.
Making the stencil
From our Christmas stencils, print Santa's sleigh pulled by a horse.
Transfer this template to the sheet.
With a sheet of Rodoïd, since it's transparent, simply place it over the design and iron the lines through the transparency.
With a cardboard sheet, the easiest way is to cut out the printed sheet, place the pattern on the cardboard sheet and go around it with a pencil. Then, using very thin scissors, cut out the inside of the pattern.

Stencil painting
Position the stencil (if you're worried about moving, it's best to use temporary spray glue to secure the stencil). Paint with the stencil brush: impregnated with a small amount of metallised grey color (not liquid), held vertically, tap to colour the canvas (without risking the paint getting under the stencil).
Rhinestone decoration
All that's left is to glue the rhinestones to the sky, using rhinestone glue or an electric applicator if the rhinestones are heat-setting.
