A utilitarian knot... and beautifully decorative too


Tying
This knot can be used as a stop knot to prevent the thread escaping from a ring or loop... here, we'll use it as a decorative knot.

The strand goes to the right, turns left as it passes over itself, and returns to the right from underneath.


This movement is the very basis of the knot.

Now simply repeat this movement three or four times.
























Pull the strand up through each of the right-hand loops: top, bottom, top, bottom... The knotting is now complete. The knotting is complete. To give it its final shape, start again from the beginning and tighten gradually.



of course, nothing prevents you from lengthening the knot by repeating the movement as many times as you like.
