Easter eggs, ribbon and glitter decoration


Here's how to create a chic, colorful Easter egg, using a Styrofoam egg, sequins and ribbons. thetechnique for decorating with sequins is simple: simply thread a sequin onto a pin, then push the pin into the Styrofoam shape. Then continue by placing sequins edge-to-edge with the previous sequins, so as not to leave any white.

This requires a great deal of patience, as it's quite a long job, hence the idea ofcombining ribbons that will cover part of the surface. By offering a contrast of color and material with the sequins, this creates a beautiful decorative effect, accentuated by the geometric lines.
Time: about 2 hours Materials:
  • a polystyrene egg
  • multicolored sequins
  • pins (sequin-specific pins are shorter)
  • pieces of ribbon (those used are scrapbooking ribbons. Embossed, their striped pattern is in relief)
  • a roll of orange Rainbow Tape™ crepe effect

Step 1

Decorated egg
A yellow ribbon is placed around the egg and in the middle of its height: it is held by 2 pins on each of which a sequin has been threaded. Then, an orange self-adhesive ribbon is placed above and then below this first ribbon.

Step 2

Easter egg
A line of sequins is placed on the separating lines between the ribbons.  

Step 3

Step 3 to create an egg

A piece of green ribbon is placed perpendicularly, held by 2 sequins. A piece of yellow ribbon is placed "diagonally", after cutting the ends to a point.  

Step 4

Covered in sequins

The space between the yellow and orange ribbons is covered with 2 lines of sequins.

Step 5

We continue the Easter egg

A red ribbon is placed perpendicular to the green and yellow ribbons. Sequins are placed at the edges of these ribbons and in the free spaces thus delimited. The same work is done for the other high side of the egg.

Step 6

Bottom of egg

For the bottom side of the egg, place a first piece of yellow ribbon on the diagonal (end cut on the bias) and secure with sequins.

Step 7

End of egg creation

Then place another piece of yellow ribbon symmetrically on the other diagonal and place sequins on the edges of the ribbons and in the gaps.
