Strap mitt or glove muff for strollers

Children who have to walk alongside a stroller or cart often get their hands frozen when it's cold, so I created a muff or mitten with a strap to keep their hands warm without letting go of the stroller! I made my first muff with this base, but after that you can do as you like and change as needed!

Supplies

You can take any fabric you like, a warm one like fleece or nicky velvet, a cotton or satin one, a coated fabric or waxed canvas, coated canvas to brave the rain! Whatever you like! The basic dimensions? take an A4 sheet! You'll also need a cord or lace about 60cm long (depending on the length you want), a second about 30cm long unless, as in the tuto, you're using the rest of the cut-out from the second part, buttons, ribbons, lace, pieces of fabric, etc... in fact anything you need for decoration...

Decoration comes first!

For the decorations, I'll let you improvise! Use buttons, beads, ribbons - let your imagination run wild! Give it a face or a shape of your child's choosing! But do it before sewing, it makes it easier to work...
For the example, I've chosen to make a friendly face, with pearls and buttons...

Now we move on to editing

Fold the rectangles in half and slide the cords between the two parts (on the inside),
Prepare the pockets: secure with pins and sew with a sewing machine or serger!

Sewing pockets

Stitch one width and one length, leaving the second width unstitched...

Fitting the parts

Then turn the one with the larger cord inside out (so the seams are invisible) and slide the highest part inside ... That way, no visible seams = top finish! the one that fits inside should be bigger, that's normal, it will be used for finishing ... unless you think of another finish... Once again, it's up to you!

We're almost finished!

There's still one part to finish... the bottom of the protruding inner part... it just needs to be turned over
and sew all around to close the sleeve, and you're done!

Come on, one more point and we're done!

Sew with a discreet stitch or with a full-width seam line at the top to hold the two pieces together Don't forget the inner cord that the child will grab to hold onto the stroller...

I promise you that children will never leave the sleeves! No need to worry about them keeping their hands in them... and they even ask to keep them on to use them as puppets!

Happy sewing! and if you need me, I'll be happy to help...

Now it's your turn!
