Customize espadrilles for summer

Creating your own espadrilles for summer was the challenge of this customization!
A nod to the Seventies with those big flowers, but updated with a discreet rhinestone decoration. A custo in 2 versions: a country version with paint alone, or an evening version with the addition of Swarovski rhinestones.

Drawing and painting stage

Drawing flowers on canvas
Using a grey pencil, draw flowers with a seventies look and 5 wide petals right on the canvas.
Painting on the canvas of espadrilles
Start by painting a heart and the petals of the two large flowers with liquid khaki paint (without adding water, using a fine brush). To arrange the paint in the bottle precisely, it's best to pour a little paint into a bowl and pick it up (gel-like) with the fine brush.
Paint the outline of the large flower, the heart of the other, and the petals of the cut flower, in metallic color with good silver highlights. Paint the heart of the large flower, the outline of the petals of the second large flower, and the outline of the cut flower, in pearly green. Take up the khaki paint to highlight the outline of the cut flower.
Paint the side of the shoes
On the side of the shoes, paint a wide stripe with the khaki paint: a wider curved stripe behind. Highlight this stripe with a line of metal paint (directly from the bottle this time) 5-6 mm above the khaki stripe.

Go natural with these big painted flowers!

Strass stage

Place rhinestones on espadrilles
Heat the electric rhinestone applicator with the SS16 tip. Place a cylindrical object in the tip of the espadrille to support the rhinestones. While hot, use the tip to pick up one of the SS16 Crystal ab rhinestones from the work table (crystal side visible), invert the applicator and watch the glue heat up to form a foam. gently turn the applicator upside down and place the rhinestone in its place, pressing lightly on the canvas (the object placed inside provides support - don't place your fingers on the reverse side of the canvas, it heats up!)
Continue in this way, arranging the rhinestones in curves like stems linking the flowers together. With practice, to place the 6 remaining Olivine rhinestones with a larger diameter, there's no need to change the tip: the SS16 is suitable for placing a few SS20 rhinestones. Otherwise, unplug the unit to allow it to cool down before changing the tip.
