Step 1
| Make the base of the card in a cardboard sheet, in this case orange. Then cut 1 cm-wide strips in another shade (in this case sunshine yellow), slightly taller than the card. The strips are cut using a cutter which allows this wave-like cut. Glue these strips at equal distances to the card cover. |
| Cut off any excess at the top and bottom with scissors. | |
| Cut out a heart-shaped window, either by drawing it and cutting it out with a cutter, or by using (as was the case here) a template and the Fiskars Shape Cutter swivel blade cutter (adjusting the cutting height for these 2 thicknesses) | |
| Step 2 | |

| In a 3rd cardboard sheet (red in this case), cut the same size cut as step 1 |
| Then, using the upper template, cut a frame around this heart. |
| Glue this frame to the card's heart window. |
| Step 3 |

| Inside the card, glue a paler yellow sheet with 3 wave-cut edges and a small heart shape omitted (to reveal the card's orange color) |
| Step 4 |

| |
| |

| A surprise inside the card On the hollowed-out heart from step 1, glue the same-sized heart from step 2, inserting a paper strip with a folded end | |
This end will be glued to the back of the card, hidden by a small shape cut out from a sheet of card. Glue the small heart cut out from step 3 onto the plain heart (the other containing a wavy strip). | |
Step 5
| To finish and balance the card cover, glue 3 hearts one on top of the other, cut from the 3 colors used. |
