Toile Home déco Little autumn music

A set of Home Deco canvases called "Petite musique d'automne" (Little autumn music) based on a composition of dried autumn leaves and small musical instruments. Natural materials and colors in this interplay between large and small frames. This composition evokes a stroll in the woods when the trees are decked out in their most beautiful russet hues.

Dried autumn leaves
The collected leaves are chosen for their pretty hues and diversity (they must be whole, of course), then put to dry between used sheets of paper under a large book. A few days are enough, but they can also be stored until next autumn.

Hardware

The frames are in natural linen: linen adds a natural touch, its only drawback being the lack of contrast between similar colors.
- a 30x30 cm frame, 2 cm thick,
- one 20x20 cm frame, 3 cm thick,

Prepare stretcher frames by inserting the supplied wooden wedges into the corner notches: this will tension the canvas. Then attach a fastener to the back and center of the frame.

The Musical Leaves canvas

Music leaves canvas
This canvas enhances the natural linen of the frame, and the same warm-toned stain for the mini violin and small frames lends a simple harmony to this composition.
The backs of the frames, made of thin cardboard, are coloured with diluted paint (Jo Sonja's Marigold), then a dried sheet is glued with varnish-glue: use a brush to coat the support and the back of the sheet, then position the sheet and varnish the top.
Leaf under frame
The wooden frames and small violin are painted with 2 coats of cognac stain. After drying, the frames are mounted with their glass panes, then glued with strong glue to the stretcher fabric. Three beautiful leaves in a variety of colors are glued with varnish-glue. Then the violin is glued with strong glue to the bed of leaves. To give it the same shine as the leaves, glue varnish is applied to the top and sides of the violin.

Leaves of an orchestra

Canvas Orchestra leaves
This composition combines autumn leaves, of course, with small frames featuring autumn-themed music scores (an excerpt and a miniaturized score), and a wooden treble clef placed on a leaf that echoes the movement of the treble clef...
To create a graphic effect, the lower part of the canvas is painted orange-red (Jo Sonja's Wild rose), the right part water-green (Jo Sonja's Oak Moss with a little black to contrast with the linen canvas). The lower part is then covered with a layer of crackling gel, more or less fine to create varied crackling zones.

Crackled paint effect
As soon as it becomes transparent but still sticky, apply a slightly darker coat of paint (in the same direction and in a single pass). The dried leaves are then glued, and the wooden treble clef (painted black as on the sheet music) is glued to a leaf with the same tail movement. If the varnish-glue applied to the leaves of the lower band overflows, it is possible to apply varnish-glue to the whole band.
The small rectangular wooden frames are stained with "Cognac" stain. The scores are printed (just look for some on the Internet): either to scale, or reduced to fit in the small frame. The background of the scores is colored with Jo Sonja's Marigold paint, very diluted. The frames are then assembled and glued with strong glue to the canvas of the stretcher frame

The Wind Leaves mini-chassis

Small frame Dried leaf
Mini-chassis complete this set of canvases. A beautiful dried leaf is glued with its tail onto a mini-chassis, then the branches are painted in 2 tones: black for the branches, orange for the leaves. The idea is to take advantage of the thickness of the chassis to continue the motif on the sides.
