Crystal rhinestone design

From a simple design, a stencil line or coloring, it's easy to create a rhinestone motif to great effect.

Here, it's a "fish" motif. The design was cut out and then placed with needles (or temporary spray adhesive) on an ecru canvas bag (this easy technique avoids having to draw in pencil on the fabric).

Then go around it, keeping the same 1 or 2mm margin around the paper and spacing the rhinestones evenly. Materials

• An unbleached cotton canvas bag
• 33 Swarovski SS12 Light rose rhinestones (3mm
)
• 50 Swarovski SS12 Aquamarine rhinestones (3mm)
• 1 Swarovski SS34 Capri blue rhinestone (7mm
)
• 9 Swarovski SS5 Capri blue rhinestones
• Glue for crystal rhinestones, if the rhinestones are not hotfixable

The rhinestones are glued: either

• one by one with a specific glue for rhinestones
or
• with an iron if the rhinestones are heat-settable, taking care first to delicately place a cotton cloth over all the rhinestones
• or (still for heat-settable rhinestones) with an electric rhinestone appliance that glues the rhinestones one by one

It's clear that only the "one rhinestone at a time" gluing method will give a perfect result.
