THE LANGUAGE OF THE FAN "ABANICO
The fan was an effective tool for flirting when it was forbidden in public.
When ladies were accompanied by their mothers or an escort to ensure their good behavior, the fan was a means of communicating with the knights.
This explains why, at the time of Louis XV, King of France, etiquette forbade court ladies to open fans in the presence of the queen.
Until 1939 in the Court of England, the fan was mandatory for the ladies in the receptions and official ceremonies.
In Spain, this particular language became at the end of the seventeenth and beginning of the eighteenth, the closest ally of the Spanish women for the flirt.
Today it seems that this tradition has disappeared, but you never know.
Here are the rules you need to know to communicate with fans.
